Family YMCA Makes a Splash in Owen County

The Owen County Community Foundation has been involved in several large-scale projects in Owen County; however, the largest project from a funding perspective was the construction of an eight-lane community swimming pool which was the first step towards the multi-purpose fitness facility which morphed into the Owen County Family YMCA. This was all made possible through a partnership with Lilly Endowment Inc and GIFT Phase IV in which a $1 million grant was issued for this project. Further support was met from Jim and Sally Vance, of Spencer, who pledged a donation of $400,000 towards this groundbreaking project.
